Gorges du Caramy

The Gorges du Caramy - a gorge created by the River Caramy - is by no means as spectacular as other gorges in Provence: it is not particularly deep or particularly narrow, and in a landscape which certainly doesn't suffer from a shortage of gorges, it leads a distinctly modest existence.

However, this place is definitely worth a visit; a pretty path leading down the gorge through a lush, green alluvial forest reveals a gently splashing stream where there are even fish to be observed. What's more, upstream from the town of Tourves this gorge is easily accessible and far from crowded: a pleasant, unexciting place which owes its attraction precisely to the lack of anything which might be described as spectacular.
