One of the best-known and busiest holiday locations in the whole of Croatia is to be found on the southern coast of the island of Brac: the village of Bol. Anybody looking for a bit of peace and quiet won’t find it in this place, because Bol is a complete holiday machine with people packed on the beach like sardines, huge car parks and endless rows of souvenir shops.
However, it's quite easy to avoid the masses, because just a few kilometers further to the west things look completely different: if you drive along a rough track past the tiny village of Murvica you can find some beautiful rocky bays where you'll be completely by yourself, with any luck at all. One particularly attractive bay is just a few hundred meters behind the spectacular ruined monastery which is visible at the top of the cliffs on the right. It can easily be recognized by the distinctive power lines which run down to the sea at this point.
